SSAB

Sweden's largest steel company, SSAB, has succeeded in producing the world's first fossil-free steel. This creates an incredable opportunity as the industry today accounts for 7% of the global carbon emissions. Instead of releasing carbon dioxide, the residual product is now water.

Pure Waste contains the emissions from fossil-free steel production, collected at the pilot plant in Luleå. The world's first water with taste of change.

With Pure Waste, something as mundane as water became a tangible symbol of how the entire steel industry can go from CO2 → H20. And hopefully, more steel companies will one day be able to drink their emissions.
